Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR)
Australia's PPSR is a single national register for security interests in personal property, established under the Personal Property Securities Act 2009.
Australia operates the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR), a national online register that records security interests in personal property. It was established under the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) and has been operational since 30 January 2012.
The PPSR replaced over 70 separate Commonwealth, state, and territory registers, creating a single place to register and search for security interests over personal property. Personal property includes any property that is not land β vehicles, equipment, livestock, intellectual property, inventory, and even debts.
Anyone can search the PPSR to check whether personal property has a security interest registered against it. Secured parties can register their interests to protect their priority position in the event of default or insolvency.
The register is administered by the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA).
